and I'm coming at you from Detroit
Michigan and today I'm going to talk to
you about what are your options if you
lose your H1B Visa job
so first thing I want to say if you have
already lost your job I'm very sorry to
hear that I have been through something
like that before and I know how you feel
and that is the reason I'm making this
video so I'm gonna get right into the
topic so you only have three to four
options if you lose your H1B Visa job
now here's the thing if you have found
that you're going to lose your job this
is what you should do there are certain
mistakes I did when I lost my job in
2018
um I was at a company I was not an H1B I
was on F1 but here's the thing there
were mistakes which I did which I could
have saved a lot of money or I could
have made a lot of money so number one
thing you should do if you're about to
lose a job and they are discussing
severance package or something like that
or they are discussing like you know
whatever like how many days you have and
stuff like that here's what I would do
number one question you can ask them hey
can I go part-time instead of full-time
can I work part-time on this job for
like you know certain amount of time
till I find another job if they are not
allowing that you should ask them uh
let's say they say we'll give you two
weeks of severance package you should
say double it whatever they ask you just
double it it's okay to ask you they're
not gonna say it's not an offer letter
they're not gonna resend it they have to
give you Severance people will sue them
if they don't give Severance packages so
here's the thing you have a lot of power
when it comes to severance package I
remember when I got laid off they gave
me two weeks of severance package two
weeks of pay but I had already worked
there for a year so in my opinion I
should have gotten two weeks more so
basically your severance package also
for every year you have worked you
should get two weeks so let's say your
Severance they give you two weeks or
four weeks of sevens they should also
add let's say you worked there for three
years so two times three is six so
that's about four plus six is about 10
weeks of pay you should be getting in my
opinion
you have to Advocate yourself for that
okay so these are a couple of things
let's say you have three weeks of PT or
left or four weeks of PTO every year ask
them hey can I take that PTO and you can
add that Severance as the income towards
that video
instead of just like cutting off my
immigration that day because you
understand as the day you like your job
ends your end like hey you are not
working there so technically your 60-day
grace period starts so your goal is to
maximize or spread out those 60 days as
much as possible so understand it's a
game of numbers
let's see your photos of PTO take that
take that's what I did guys they gave me
two weeks of severance and they gave me
one week of PTO I had one week of PTO so
the way I did that is like I I got fired
during some something sometime in March
I told them that hey this is the issue
this is what I want to do so I took
three weeks of PTO and my last date was
they they extended my last date by three
weeks and you can do this there are
understand if you don't talk to the
company and just think by yourself that
you have three weeks that's not right
you have to talk to the company you have
to change their exit date and that's how
it works work so don't just like go
ahead and doing by yourself also
anything here I say is not legal advice
guys talk to a lawyer before you do
anything in my opinion okay this is
random YouTuber right here I'm just
trying to help okay just trying to take
that pressure off you all right so what
are your options three options in my
opinion number one obviously find
another job I'll find another job you
have 60 days to find here is what I
would do let's say you lose your job on
Thursday Wednesday whatever day it is
take a day or two off take a day or two
off process it
go out eat your favorite food do
something good for yourself so that you
feel better okay because it's yes it
sucks getting laid off sucks but I'm
sure some of you also have that relief
that you don't have to go to work next
to three days or maybe you got that time
so look at this as if you have gotten
gift of time and this is the time for
you to go into something better and
bigger for yourself I'll be honest with
you I've never looked back the the
reason I the job I got laid laid off
from three months down the road I was
making ten thousand dollars more at a
new job I'm still working for the
company this is the best company I've
worked for in my entire life I wouldn't
be here guys if I was still working at
that company I wouldn't have changed up
I can I'm just that kind of person you
know I I and I have very I'm usually
very loyal to companies if I find a good
company I'll work there so guess what
it's a great opportunity for you to make
that change so look at it this way all
right number one thing you have to do is
application understand applications the
number of applications you see it are
like the seeds you plant the more seeds
you plant the bigger the crop you get
the more applications you send the
number of interviews you get are going
to be higher now here's the thing if you
apply for 10 jobs a day within let's say
30 days you're gonna have 300
applications
this is not the time to apply for 10
jobs a day guys this is the time to
apply for 30 40 50 jobs a day you have
to figure it out you have to there is
unfortunately you don't have time
because not only that
let's say you have to have let's say in
30 days if you do this 30 applications a
day you have 900 applications you're
gonna start listen you're gonna start
hearing things Folks by the fourth week
or fifth week you're not gonna hear
anything right away as a matter of fact
first two weeks you will not even if you
apply you're not gonna hear it takes
time for HR to see your resume it takes
time for them to process things there is
a lag between the work you do and the
results you see so if you do a bunch of
work initially you will see more results
in your second month if you don't do
and you just start taking time to
process what's happening
it's going to be hard for your second
one you're going to wake up in your
second month and be like oh my God I
wish I did this so this is what my thing
is here's the rare thing take a day or
two to process this you don't have time
to process this for a month you don't
have time to cry you can cry in your
second month it's fine I know it's
easier said that done but trust me
go figure out a therapy talk to your
friends find one or two friends who you
can talk to about this
you need you need friends close to you
need people if you don't have anybody to
talk to reach out to me you have the
link in the bio I love to talk to you
okay so here's the thing
so 900 applications in your first month
that's the only way you're going to get
calls from people you listen here's the
thing another thing I'm gonna tell you
there may be layoffs in the tech
industry there may be layoffs in your
industry but there are other Industries
which are still hiring I'm in the Civil
industry I'm in the construction
industry I live in Michigan all the
layoffs I'm hearing are in California
New York and all those areas sounds up
I've not heard of anything in Michigan
as of now so there are still my company
as a matter of fact is still hiring for
computer science Majors still hiring
data analytics so apply to other states
go to a job which you have not thought
about go to a health field they may need
a computer science major if you're in
construction go to something else
understand you just have to change your
perspective about how you look for jobs
and that's something very very creative
important you have to become creative
all right so your applications all right
now
when people go through breakup I have
noticed they usually reach out to their
ex if you're going through a breakup
you're going through a job loss reach
out to your ex employees ex-employers
like if you're worked at three or four
different companies even if you had bad
relationships with them it's okay reach
out to them fine this is not the time to
save ego and stuff like that reach out
to them it's okay figure out six months
later what's gonna happen next thing
reach out to your professors
reach out to your professors professors
are like amazing they have a lot of
power people don't know that which are
your professors tell them your story you
got laid off you need help you need 60
days to figure out reach out to your
college ask them if they can do for
something for you
you just have to start emailing folks
you just have to pick up that phone pick
up that email write it down and send it
to someone reach out to your friends
reach out to your colleagues reach out
to people you who got laid off with you
ask them what they are doing trust me it
you have to leave your shame outside
right now you've lost a job you have 60
days to figure it out that's what you
need to do all right so that's something
else so these are the two things I would
do if you're like looking for a job all
right number seven two things let's say
you are like I don't know how I'm
gonna live in U.S second option you can
do is go back to school go back to
college in my opinion day one CPT
colleges are best option if you lose
your job on H1B you don't have anything
you need to get back to school you need
to figure out also you want permission
to work Devon CPT college is great
because let's say it takes you three
four five months to find a job get into
a d1cpd college there are a couple of
universities in us which are legal
legitimate ethical I have myself when I
lost my job uh when I didn't get my H1B
for three times I had to go to day one
CPT College it was legal ethical I got
my H1B stamped if you need help connect
with me there's Link in the bio or you
can just email it to me okay I'll help
you getting into day one CPT college and
myself went there and I got my H1B
stamped and approved all right so that's
second way because you can buy time you
get two years of CPT
um you can apply for a H1B again so
here's the thing you don't have to go
through a lot okay once you have action
B if you find another company during
that time and they are ready to sponsor
hmb you'll get it you just get it it's
just going to be approved you don't have
to go through the lottery again that's
the that's the positive thing about it
and you can there you can take one or
two your breaks on CPT even if your
company you don't you find a company who
is not willing to do like H1B that's
still fine because you still have H1B
it's okay I understand you still have
H1B
is just that your H1B is like not active
right now again
this is my knowledge I may be wrong talk
to a lawyer to understand if it's right
or not talk to a lawyer this is what I
heard this is what I've read over the
past years and my experience for people
okay so like I said number two option is
different CPT or go for a PhD if you're
on if you're like I'm done with work go
for a PhD you have somebody saved go for
a PhD okay that's something you can do
or a better degree if your bachelor's go
for Masters Masters go for PhD all right
number three thing all right so number
three things I.T consultancies there are
good consultancies like Boston
Consulting Group Deloitte and all these
big four you know if you're able to get
jobs into that great man but I think
even they are going to be tight right
now but then there are legal I.T
consultancies they are weird ones also
hire people they'll hire people and they
will they will do your H1B and all those
things and they will place you on
different projects so you may be
benching for a minute but they will
place you on different projects that
might be a good option to look into
now there are a lot of other you know ID
consultancies which do Shady things
they'll create fake experiences and
stuff like that and try to place people
with you know showing fake experiences
six years of experience for a one-year
experience job they do crazy things I'll
make another video on that but
understand the difference between a
legal and ethical and a weird ones so if
you see something weird going on you
don't want to be a part of it if you
make your judgment for yourself
understand make judgments for yourself
go through them talk to them there are a
bunch of them there are hundreds of them
you have to find them you have to figure
out how to find them go online look for
it find them talk to them see how you
feel when you talk to people if you feel
good then it's good for good to go if
you don't feel good you feel weird and
stuff like that hey you know be careful
of what you get into so that's the
number three option in my opinion okay
so number one is obviously find another
job 60 days but I give you tips how to
do it number two is David CPT go to
another University otherwise go for a
higher degree number three is obviously
it consultancies look into that that
might save you that might help you stay
in America number four is the last
option which I've heard recently is you
can convert your H1B onto a B2 visa and
that will give you enough time to figure
out your share stuff
um figure out your living and stuff like
that maybe money issue situations and
stuff like that and let's say during
that time even if you find a job you can
convert put it back to H1B but you need
to help take help from lawyer to do this
okay so if you notice in all all these
four options a lawyer is a consultant an
immigration attorney is a consistent
thing you can see reach out to them see
what your options are because they are
more experts than me guys I'm just here
trying to help you but I had great time
talking to you if you have any questions
there's a link in the bio
um you can connect with me on my email
it it's omkar helps gmail.com and I I
hope I hope everything goes fine with
you guys I hope everything let me leave
you with this thing
here's what my mentor told me when I
lost my job
he told me that there is one job
with your name written on it in Detroit
metro area
and your goal is to find it
and I believed it guys I believed it
like anything and for next 1690 days I
hammered it I remember when I lost my
job guys it was March 8th
I was sitting in an office on March
sorry May 19th I was sitting in an
office May 9th I had gotten an offer 60
days so I really believe that 60 days is
enough for you to find a job I really
truly believe in from the bottom of my
heart because I have done it so 60 days
I found an offer letter things went this
thing I was in the I was in the office
but had also gotten that 20 extra days
because of the severance ptos and stuff
like that but make sure you talk to them
okay but like I said there is your name
written on one job in your city and you
can find it your thing is to find that
job and I hope you find it you have 60
days the time starts now
